PRINCIPAL's Message

Welcome to Lynnwood Elementary School!

We are very proud of our community of students, parents, and staff. As our mission statement proclaims, “Lynnwood Elementary School is a diverse learning community committed to excellence in academics, ingenuity, and personal character.”

We have a wonderfully diverse student population. Collectively, our bilingual and sometimes trilingual students speak about 35 different languages at home representing all parts of the world. Our richness of diversity is honored throughout the school year and celebrated each June with FAME. This is an evening of global singing, dancing, and food provided by the families in our community.

This wealth of diversity only adds to our strong academic programs. Using the Common Core Standards, we give our students a strong academic foundation while developing their creativity and critical thinking skills. Our teachers are committed to learning each child's strengths and needs. From this information, they create a classroom environment that both challenges and supports every student. Our parents play a very important role as well. As our students' first teacher, all of our parents are responsible for staying in communication with the classroom teachers, as well as making sure their children are well rested and get to school every day on time.

Lynnwood Elementary School is a safe place to be. This is due, in large part, to the work our teachers and students do with the Second Step social/emotional curriculum. Second Step’s holistic approach helps students develop empathy and problem solving skills so that they can take an active role in the social-emotional growth and safety of each other. We believe that every moment is an opportunity to further develop our students' moral aptitude. Our safe campus is also due to our new campus. Opened in September 2018, it is not just a beautiful campus, it is also has many features, designed to keep our students and staff safe in this modern age.

Whether you are a long time “Lynnwood Leopard” or new to the school, we encourage you get involved. Beyond volunteering, we have many evening school events to attend. Each year, our Parent Teacher Organizations sponsors a Fall Festival, Movie Nights, Skate Nights, a Bingo/Auction Night and monthly information meetings. Our music department hosts a number of choir, band, orchestra, and special grade-level performances throughout the school year. Our drama department, stages the best elementary-level musical production you will ever see. Beyond this, our teachers run Curriculum Night in the fall, Open House in the spring, and other programs in between. We would love to see you at these events!
