Summer Reading

Summer Reading Tips

Grade K-1: Read for at least 20mn every day (or have an adult read to you)

Grade 2-3: Read for at least 30mn every day

Grade 4-6: Read at least 1 hour every day

Keep on Reading throughout the summer: real books, and online

  • Read independently,
  • Listen to an adult reading or listen to an audiotape,
  • Read in the community (signs, newspapers, menus, labels...)
  • Talk about stories you have read or heard
  • Visit your school library website for ideas and access to online reading sites.
  •  Write every day (journal, notes to family and friends, stories, grocery lists and pictures as stories)

Read a new Tumblebook every day on your computer

 Starfall- Literacy and math games for primary students.

SORA: Log in your school email and password. Best Books 2020-21 can be found here.

LWE Library Discover (scroll down to find e-books and audio-books) and Biblionasium Grade 4-6 (access from Destiny Discover and click on Hamburger menu on top left). Use your school username and password.

Lynnwood Public Library: Summer Reading Dig Deeper. Download the reading log and keep track of your minutes.

  • Barnes and Noble in Lynnwood:  Summer Reading Download the Summer Reading Journal and Earn Free Books Grade1-6
  • Book Adventure: Read and take quizzes on books. Earn things on the website.

Summer Reading Book lists:

  • Your public library will have many on display.
  • Your teacher will recommend titles when you leave school.
  • Your school librarian will have great ideas.
  • Read the Battle of the Books titles from last year, and nominees for Sasquatch and Young Reader's Choice for next year's Battle of the Books for 2020-21.
